Some owners of an Apple TV run into a major problem. You can no longer use the Apple TV without an iPhone. But what if you don’t have an Apple smartphone at all?
Apple TV no longer works without iPhone
A number of owners of an Apple TV recently came in for quite a surprise. After an update of tvOS (the Apple TV operating system), they must first accept the new iCloud user terms and conditions with an iPhone or iPad.
Most Apple TV owners have no problem with this, but not all users own an iPhone or iPad. As a result, it is no longer possible for some owners to use their Apple TV.
By the way, you can’t just use any iPhone or iPad. Your smartphone or tablet must be running iOS 16 or iPadOS 16. So do you have an (too) old iPad and do you also receive the message about the terms of use? Then you can’t go any further…
Apple has not yet provided a solution
There is currently no solution for these users. Clicking away from the notification only works temporarily and the warning returns quickly afterwards. It is now up to Apple to come up with a real solution.
