Toyota and Subaru are launching new EVs developed together

Subaru now has just one fully electric model in its lineup: the Solterra. However, Subaru will have four EVs in its delivery range by the end of 2026. For these electric newcomers, it will collaborate extensively with Toyota.

The Subaru Solterra is obviously strongly related to the Toyota bZ4X. The brands seem to like this collaboration. Subaru announces that it will have a total of four electric SUVs in its portfolio by the end of 2026. We assume that the Solterra will stay on for a while and will therefore be one of them. That leaves three newcomers and it will also work closely with Toyota for those models.

One of the two new SUVs will be made by Subaru at its Yajima plant in Japan. It will also build the variant of that car intended for Toyota there. In turn, Toyota will produce a new electric SUV in the United States, which in turn will produce a Subaru. There is no information yet about the fourth new electric SUV.

By the way, it does not stop at electric SUVs that were created with the help of Toyota. Subaru says it will also add a range of in-house developed electric models to its portfolio by the end of 2028.

Subaru does not forget its models with combustion engines. For example, it announces a hybrid variant for both the Subaru Forester and the Crosstrek with a boxer engine and a hybrid system from Toyota. So we are dealing here with a new range of e-Boxer powertrains.
