Some people handle crises better than others and even grow when faced with challenges. New research shows that everyone can steel themselves to a certain extent against the adversities of life.

For a long time it seemed to be primarily a question of fate whether someone broke down from severely stressful life situations such as a serious illness or a failed marriage or whether they grew in the face of the challenge.
