If you don’t use Siri, you probably just find it annoying when Apple’s virtual assistant gets activated inadvertently. That is why it is better to turn off Siri on your iPhone in that case. We’ll show you how that works.
Siri on your iPhone
Before we show you how to completely turn off Siri on your iPhone, if you just want to temporarily turn off Siri, there’s a neat trick you may not have known about.
Siri does not respond if you put your iPhone on the table with the screen facing down. Unintentional activation is therefore impossible. Incidentally, this is also the case when your iPhone is in your pocket, covered and when the energy saving mode is switched on.
It is possible to disable this and ensure that Siri is always listening, even in your pocket. You do this as follows:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap on ‘Accessibility’;
- Scroll down and tap Siri;
- Enable the “Always listen for ‘Hey Siri'” option.
This way you completely disable Siri
You can turn off Siri on your iPhone with confidence, because you can always activate it by pressing and holding the side button. Unless you disable that option, of course. How to turn off Siri on your iPhone:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap “Siri & Search”;
- Turn off the “Listen for ‘Hey Siri'” option.
As you can see, you can also turn off the options ‘Press the side button for Siri’ and ‘Allow Siri when locked’. You can decide for yourself whether you want that or not.
Turn off Siri on your Apple Watch
If turning off Siri on your iPhone is completely successful, you probably want the same on your Apple Watch. How to turn off Siri on your Apple Watch:
- Press the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch;
- Tap on ‘Settings’ (this is the gear icon);
- Scroll down and choose Siri;
- Turn off the “Listen for Hey Siri,” “Tap to Speak,” and “Press the Digital Crown” features;
- Press the Digital Crown again to exit the settings.
