Volkswagen highlights electric SUV ID.4

After the ID.3, the next family member from Volkswagen’s ID family now appears: the ID.4 has now finally been officially announced. The range is up to 500 kilometers, the unveiling will take place later this year.

We couldn’t really ignore it anymore, but Volkswagen is now confirming the arrival itself: the ID.4 is the next electric Volkswagen. It is the very first all-electric SUV of the brand. As with ID.3, Wolfsburg now first shows a wrapped version in the run-up to the official unveiling. The ID.4 is intended for the European, Chinese and North American market.

Initially, the ID.4 gets rear-wheel drive, later a four-wheel drive version follows. Furthermore, not much is announced about the technology, but the range is, according to Volkswagen, up to 500 kilometers, depending on the chosen powertrain.

Volkswagen already looked ahead to the arrival of this electric SUV with the ID.Crozz in 2017. Together with ID.3, ID.4 forms part of a larger plan. Volkswagen wants a completely neutral portfolio by 2050. The ID.4 will be presented to the public in production later this year. A market launch should then take place next year – without any production problems.
