Next electric model is an SUV
Volkswagen ID.4 prototype
Volkswagen has unveiled a near-production-ready version of the ID.4. The electric SUV will be presented in its final form later this year.
Volkswagen is launching this year its second model in the electrically powered ID. This uses the same technology as the ID.3, but is a size bigger and is slightly higher on its wheels. Volkswagen calls it an SUV, something that can be seen on the latest images. The design of the ID.4 stems from the ID. Crozz, two versions of which have been presented.
Special is that the ID.4 has rear-wheel drive. Later there will also be versions with four-wheel drive and several electric motors. The driving range of the battery version with the largest capacity is 500 kilometers, but versions with less range and therefore a lower price also appear. Just like ID.3, the ID.4 is on the new MEB platform, which Volkswagen has developed specifically for electric cars.
The production version of the ID.4 will probably be unveiled after the summer, the sales start will then take place in the first half of 2021.
