Nissan has heated up the previous generation Micra as if it were a microwave meal. For the Mexican car market, the brand is launching a once again facelifted version of the previous Micra that was first marketed in 2010.
In Europe, the fourth generation marketed in 2010 was replaced in 2017 by the model currently populating Nissan showrooms. In various parts of the world you can still buy the previous generation Micra (K13) new. That will also remain the case in the coming period. Nissan has presented a new facelifted version of the eleven-year-old March in Mexico, which we naturally know as the previous Micra. The last time the previous generation Micra was facelifted in Europe was in 2013 (photos 6, 7 and 8).
Nissan Micra (2010)
Nissan has certainly not held back during the refinement. The heated Micra gets a completely new front. The small, relatively round headlights of yesteryear make way for large, more rectangular ones. The grille has also been completely overhauled. The somewhat flat grille of the past has been dismissed and is replaced by a grille that extends deeper into the grille and is surrounded by a thick silver-colored edge. The relatively angular front provides a special contrast with the rest of the rather round body. The adjustments at the rear are less drastic. Nissan gives the Micra revised rear light units with dark glazing and hangs a new rear bumper at the bottom of the buttocks, complete with a part that should pass for a diffuser.
Nissan Micra (2014)
Although Nissan does not address the basic shape of the interior, the cockpit is also somewhat brought to the present. There is now a flattened steering wheel at the bottom, which we know from more current Nissans. In the center console, the Japanese screw a new infotainment system, which is framed with a wide frame that allows the whole to protrude slightly from the center console. The engine is not tampered with, which means that the Micra at least in Mexico keeps its 106 hp 1.6, a power source that was never available in the compact hatchback. The renewed March / Micra has a starting price of just under 9 grand in Mexico. Of course he will not come to the Netherlands.
