Weekly overview 39: Apple Intelligence in Dutch from iOS 26.1, Apple responds to DMA and more

In this weekly overview we list the most important Apple news for you and you will also find the most popular tips from the past days.

Last week it became clear Apple Intelligence from iOS 26.1, iPados 26.1 and MacOS 26.1 will be available in Dutch and that downgrading to iOS 18 is no longer possible from iOS 26. In addition, you can now also use Apple’s transfer service to Apple Music, directly from the iPhone settings.

We had to wait a while, but Apple Intelligence will also be available in it Dutch. At the end of October/early November, new languages ​​will be added in combination with iOS 26.1, iPados 26.1 and MacOS 26.1 Tahoe.

Apple Intelligence is Apple’s AI system that makes your iPhone, iPad and Mac smarter and more personal by using generative models and your personal context. It performs tasks such as summarizing notifications, improving texts, and creating images, while your privacy is protected because many processes take place locally on your device or are performed via secure private cloud compute.

Apple Music has rolled out its own transfer service with which users can transfer their stored music and playlists directly from the Settings app to the iPhone from other music services to Apple Music. This transfer service is a built -in functionality within the music application, with which you can easily switch between streaming services.

In 2024 this transfer service was already available in a select number of countries, including Australia. Since September 2025, the service has been available in several countries, including the Netherlands and Belgium. We explain how you can switch from, among others, Spotify, YouTube Music, Deezer, etc. to Apple Music.

In a press release, Apple has responded On the Digital Market Regulation (DMA) in the European Union and what this has for users in the EU. Because of this European obligation, however, Apple must make a number of worrying adjustments to the design and delivery of Apple products for users in Europe.

The Digital Market Regulation (DMA) is a European law aimed at allowing the largest digital platforms, also known as gatekeepers, to act fairly and to prevent abuse of their dominant market position. With the DMA these platforms get clear obligations, so that more competition, better conditions for entrepreneurs and consumers, and open digital markets arise.

The iOS 26 beta and test version of iPados 26 can be downloaded to use new functions and possibilities earlier. Yet there are some iPhone and iPad users who want to go back to the previous version of iOS or iPados.

The current (test) version is quite stable, but can still have a negative influence on, for example, the performance of your device. This includes the shortened battery life, regularly stuck from apps or the slower functioning of the system. In that case you can still downgrade iOS 26. You have to take into account that you have lost all collected data on the new software.
