WhatsApp introduces message restrictions – and that’s good news!

WhatsApp wants to clamp down on the increasing amount of spam by soon introducing a message restriction. This is what you need to know about it!

WhatsApp introduces message restrictions

Messaging platform WhatsApp will probably soon introduce a message restriction to combat spam. According to TechCrunch WhatsApp is currently testing a feature that limits the number of messages that individual users and companies can send to unknown people without receiving a response.

All messages sent count towards the monthly limit, which has not yet been determined at this time. WhatsApp is testing different limits to determine what works best. Tests will be carried out in several countries in the coming weeks.

That’s how it works

When a person or company is close to reaching the limit, WhatsApp displays a pop-up warning. In that pop-up you will see the remaining number of messages that can still be sent. This way, users can avoid being completely blocked from sending messages.

According to WhatsApp, the average user will not reach the set limit. After all, the controls are only designed to reduce the number of spam messages. A message sent in WhatsApp and to which a response is received does not count towards the message restriction.

Spam on WhatsApp is a major problem due to the app’s worldwide popularity. The company has worked hard in recent years to reduce spam. For example, WhatsApp has added tools that allow you to easily block someone from the lock screen. You can also unsubscribe from marketing messages and easily leave unwanted groups. In addition, the company has introduced limits on bulk messages from new users. The new message restriction in WhatsApp will be added soon.
