WhatsApp’s beta includes a striking new feature that will change a lot in the chat app. You can then receive messages from other chat apps!
WhatsApp is working on a long-awaited feature (that will change a lot)
The website WABetaInfo has made an interesting discovery in one of the beta versions of WhatsApp. This shows that you can start conversations with people who use other chat apps. It will then also be possible to add these people to a group chat in WhatsApp.
These other chat apps must have the built-in function to be able to send WhatsApp messages. In addition, apps from Meta (the parent company of WhatsApp) must also use Signal’s protocol (or similar) to encrypt messages.

In addition to messages, users can also send photos and videos, according to WEBetaInfo. However, things like stickers or temporary messages are not available. Meta is required to add this functionality due to the European Digital Markets Act.
At the moment, the chat feature is only in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android. But these functions almost always become available for the iPhone afterwards. According to rumors, the function should be available in the app within a few weeks. But the function is only available within Europe.
WhatsApp for Apple Watch
In addition to the new function for WhatsApp, Meta is also developing an app for the Apple Watch. The app for Apple’s smartwatch can then read messages, send replies and even has support for voice messages.

To use the app on the Apple Watch, you must still be connected to an iPhone with WhatsApp installed. Additionally, the feature is currently only available to beta testers of the app. It is not yet known when the app will be available to everyone. In any case, we hope we won’t have to wait too long.
