1. Save storage space

You have smartphones that have a lot of internal storage space, for example 256 or even 512 GB. But there are many smartphones that have less storage memory. And you may not want to save all the photos and videos that arrive via WhatsApp anyway. WhatsApp stores these photos by default. To save storage space, go to the three dots at the top of the general app and then again to Chats (see Tip 2. Text is more readable). On Android, you then move the slider to the back Media visibility (see image) from:

Chat settings

and at Apple you do that Add to camera roll. The photos and videos are then retrieved when you want to see them, which saves space on your phone.

2. Save data

upload quality
You can decide for yourself whether you want madia to download automatically.

Sometimes you have certain people who send a lot of photos and videos via WhatsApp very often. Those GIFs and such can be a lot of fun, but if you download them automatically via your mobile data (and not via WiFi), that’s a lot of MBs. And depending on your subscription with your provider, this can be quite expensive. One solution is to not automatically download these photos and videos so you can decide for yourself whether you want to download them. To do this, in Android, click on the 3 dots at the top right of the home screen and choose Settings and then Storage and data. You can access it at the bottom Download media automatically decide for yourself what you want to have automatically downloaded or not. By the way, you can save storage space by not downloading media even with WiFi.

3. No HD quality

upload quality 2Another way to use less data is to set your media upload quality to HD quality if you want to send photos and videos in chats. This is probably already set to Standard quality, but it is possible
no harm in checking this out. Go to Settings again by tapping on the three round dots, then go to Storage and data and in the middle of the screen you will see Media upload quality. So choose Standard quality here. As you can see with HD quality, photos and videos take longer to send and can be up to 6 times larger.

4. Your location

Open via ChatsOpinions are divided about sharing your location… Children are often not happy about it, but parents are. It is also useful if you have made an appointment with someone. You can then follow that person, or he or she, you live. At least if you have turned on your GPS or location. To do this, search for location on your smartphone and turn it on.

You open a chat with someone and then tap the paperclip at the bottom of your Android screen or in iOS the plus sign and then Location. After this you will see Location to stand.

You go to a chat with yourself and tap the paperclip. There you choose again Location and then after that Send your current location. If you don’t remember where you left your means of transport, go to this chat. iOS opens the app Cards and Android starts Google Maps.
