Apple is preparing the release of iOS 26.1, but when will the update come to your iPhone? This is the expected release date!
iOS 26.1 is coming
Another update for the iPhone is coming! Apple is preparing to release iOS 26.1, which brings many new features to your iPhone. We probably won’t have to wait much longer, because the new software version is expected to be released in early November. Based on previous updates, we know when Apple is likely to release iOS 26.1. Similar software versions appeared on these dates:
- iOS 18.1: Monday, October 28, 2024;
- iOS 17.1: Wednesday, October 25, 2023;
- iOS 16.1: Monday, October 24, 2022;
- iOS 15.1: Monday, October 25, 2021.
In any case, it is clear that iOS 26.1 will appear later than previous comparable updates. A week before the release of a new software version, Apple releases the Release Candidate (RC) of the update. This is the final test version of the software, which is intended for developers. The RC of iOS 26.1 will probably be released this week, so the final version will follow in the first week of November. So you can probably use iOS 26.1 Monday November 3 or Tuesday November 4 install.
Many new features
iOS 26.1 brings many new features to your iPhone. Apple Intelligence will be available in Dutch for the first time, meaning you can finally activate the new technology in the Netherlands and Belgium. With Apple Intelligence you get a handy Writing Assistant that can summarize, rewrite and improve texts. In addition, Image Playground comes with a new app that allows you to create your own images.
That’s not all, because you can also put together Genmoji yourself using Apple Intelligence. These are emoji that you make yourself, so that you have a suitable picture for every occasion. In the Notification Center, notifications are summarized in a smart way with Apple Intelligence, and the Mail app is also being overhauled. It will have a completely new layout, with important emails automatically shown at the top.

In addition to Apple Intelligence, iOS 26.1 brings even more changes to your iPhone. One of the most important adjustments in iOS 26 is Liquid Glass, which you can finally set yourself from iOS 26.1. In the next software version, you decide how transparent Liquid Glass is, so that the operating system remains easy to read for everyone. Furthermore, Apple TV Plus will disappear in iOS 26.1, instead the streaming service will simply be called Apple TV. We don’t have to wait long for these changes, because the update will be released soon.
