Following changes to App Store guidelines in the EU, game emulators are now appearing. That’s good news, because now you can play PlayStation games on your iPhone and iPad!
This is how you play PlayStation games on your iPhone
The popular Delta app, an emulator for NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS, previously appeared in the alternative App Store AltStore PAL. Now there’s Gamma, a new PlayStation emulator available on the iOS App Store for iPhone and iPad.
Gamma was developed by ZodTTD, which has long been known for creating apps and emulators for jailbroken iPhones. Even Delta developer Riley Testut is very pleased with ZodTTD and indicates that he previously used one of ZodTTD’s emulators as a basis for the first version of GBA4iOS. Want to play PlayStation games on your iPhone? Then check out this app:
The new emulator is only compatible with PlayStation 1 games, so you won’t be able to play games from the PS2 or newer. In any case, you can now play classic and iconic PlayStation games such as Gran Turismo and Crash Bandicoot on your iPhone and iPad. Simply by downloading an app.
No games included
With Gamma you can save and load PlayStation games on your iPhone at any time, and also sync your progress with a cloud service. The emulator also supports MFi game controllers and custom skins for players who use touch controls. The emulator works for most games on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and M2 iPad Pro. There are at most a few errors in the audio.
Logically, Gamma does not include PlayStation games for the iPhone or iPad. So you are responsible for obtaining the ROM of the games you want to play. These can be found on a lot of websites, but it is a gray area in terms of legality. That is why we do not link to a site. But if you google ‘PS1 Roms’ you will come across many sites. Gamma itself is available for free in the App Store and requires an iPhone or iPad with iOS 15 or higher.
