Wrapped Party: the latest feature for Spotify that you really need to try
Where Spotify Wrapped is mainly something you watch on your own, Spotify now turns it into a great group experience. Wrapped Party is about looking back on the musical year together. Instead of only seeing your top songs and most listened to artists, you can now also invite your friends, family or colleagues to participate.
Once everyone is in the ‘party’, Spotify throws the music data of all participants together in a fun (and sometimes a bit chaotic) presentation. The app shows which artists you all like, and which guilty pleasures could have been better hidden.
It creates hilarious moments when it turns out that the biggest metalhead has a soft spot for K-pop. Or if someone secretly appears to have an obsession with Dutch après-ski hits.
To start a Wrapped Party in Spotify, follow the steps below.
- Open Spotify and tap ‘Home’ at the bottom;
- Tap the ‘Wrapped’ option at the top;
- Then choose ‘Wrapped Party’;
- Choose ‘Start new party’
- Tap ‘Got it’ and ‘Continue’;
- Choose ‘Get Party Code’ and pass the code on to your guests;
- Tap the screen and tap ‘Start party’;
- Spotify shows various facts and tells what the people in the party are listening to, tap ‘Continue’;
- Go through the different steps and at the end you will see whether you are a (music) match.
If you want to join a Wrapped Party, select ‘Join party, with a code’ during step four. Then enter the code that the host set. Then follow the on-screen instructions.
