Tonight it’s finally happening: Apple will present a series of new devices at WWDC 2023. We’ll tell you which new devices will appear.
WWDC 2023 kicks off
WWDC 2023 kicks off tonight. Apple’s annual event runs from June 5-9 this year, and tonight Apple is unveiling all of its biggest announcements. A number of new products and software updates are expected. Do you want to know which new devices Apple will introduce this year? We put together the most important expectations for you.
Apple Reality Pro finally presented
The announcement at WWDC 2023 is the presentation of the Apple Reality. After years of waiting, Apple’s first VR glasses are finally presented tonight (we hope). The Apple Reality is probably a very advanced mixed reality headset, with two 4K micro-LED screens that have a peak brightness of 5000 nits.
Apple has developed an operating system for the Apple Reality: xrOS. The new OS version will also be unveiled tonight. Apple’s first VR glasses will not be available to the general public. The Apple Reality Pro will most likely have a retail price of around $3,000. Meanwhile, Apple is already working on cheaper VR glasses, the Apple Reality One.
New MacBook Air with larger screen
The Apple Reality is probably not the only product Apple will unveil at WWDC 2023. A new larger MacBook Air is also on the way. A 15-inch MacBook has been rumored for years, but Apple never launched the larger laptop. That now seems to be finally changing. And that’s good news: you no longer have to switch to the MacBook Pro for a MacBook with a larger screen.
The new MacBook Air is reportedly not getting a new M3 chip, but will be re-equipped with the M2 chip. It is not yet clear which variant of the M2 chip this will be exactly. The MacBook Air 2022 already runs on the M2 chip, so it is quite possible that Apple will also give options for the better M2 Pro or the M2 Max chip with the new series of MacBooks. We already see that in the MacBook Pro.
The 13-inch MacBook Air is also rumored to be getting another modest upgrade. But you probably shouldn’t expect much more than a processor upgrade.
WWDC 2023: iOS 17, watchOS 10 and more expected
In addition to new hardware, Apple usually announces a software update for almost all devices. For example, iOS 17 is expected for your iPhone, with a number of cool new functions. In addition to iOS 17, WWDC 2023 will likely also release updates for your Mac, iPad, Apple TV, and Apple Watch. Apple will launch iPadOS 17, tvOS 17, watchOS 10 and macOS 14.
