Apple has officially announced the date of WWDC 2024. On June 10, the company will unveil iOS 18, this year’s major iPhone software update. The iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Vision Pro will also receive major updates. You need to know this.
WWDC 2024 official: invitations sent
Apple has sent out the invitations for WWDC 2024. The annual conference for app developers will once again take place entirely online, just like in the previous two years. The exact schedule is yet to be revealed, but the event will take place from June 10 to 14.
WWDC is a conference for app developers, where the software is always central. The event will kick off on June 6 with an online keynote. iOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11, tvOS 18 and iPadOS 18 are expected to be announced during this presentation. We also get to see the first update of VisionOS. The rest of the event will be devoted to online workshops for developers, lectures and digital drinks.
Forecasts for WWDC 2024
Software is therefore always central during WWDC. However, every now and then Apple also presents new products. This year, however, Apple already presented a number of new MacBook Airs in March, and we expect new iPads in April. This year’s WWDC will probably stick to software.
Star of the show: iOS 18
For most people, iOS 18 is the most relevant announcement anyway. The iPhone software update follows iOS 17 and, according to rumors, will finally receive a major redesign that is reminiscent of VisionOS from Apple’s mixed reality glasses. The last time iOS received a completely new design was in 2013 with iOS 7. This includes changed app icons, a home screen that you can better customize to your needs, and more.
iOS 18 also seems to focus entirely on AI. Apple is in talks with several companies that make AI software, including China’s Baidu and even Google with its Gemini. At the same time, Siri needs a major update.
It is not yet clear what time exactly the iOS 18 keynote will take place on June 10. If we look at the past, this keynote will probably be at 7 p.m.
