Xiaomi Mix 5 Pro 5G will replace Xiaomi 12 Pro, launch in March

The new Xiaomi Mix 5 series is expected in March 2022. Part of this is the Mix 5 Pro 5G, which is seen as the new top model of the series. LetsGoDigital shared images that predict what the new device will look like.

Innovative camera design

Last month, Xiaomi announced a new smartphone lineup in China. This was about three models, the Xiaomi 12, the 12X and the Xiaomi 12 Pro. A Xiaomi 12 Ultra was also expected. This would be the replacement for the Mi 11 Ultra that was launched last year. It now appears that this model will probably not appear after all. Instead, Xiaomi will present two new Mix models, of which the Mix 5 Pro will be part. Twitter user reports that Teme.

Images have leaked about the shape of the device, a dummy and phone cases show what the phone will probably look like. The images show a completely new round design for the multi-lens camera. Using available information, graphic designer Parvez Khan, aka Technizo Concept, created a series of product renders of the Mix 5 Pro for LetsGoDigital. You can view the images below.

The camera will most likely consist of four cameras: a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide angle camera, a 48MP periscope camera and an as yet unknown fourth lens. In addition, there are two more sensors on the right, which together form the ToF laser autofocus system. Further down is the triple LED flash, which we already know from the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.

The circular multi-lens camera design

The Xiaomi Mix 5 and 5 Pro will probably be the first devices with a Leica camera. This German lens manufacturer has already collaborated with Huawei for smartphone cameras. This collaboration ended last year. Rumors have been circulating for a while about a potential collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica.

Selfie camera under the screen

The Xiaomi Mix 5 Pro may also get an in-screen selfie camera, just like its predecessor the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4. It would be a 48 MP camera, compared to the 20 MP front camera of the Mi Mix 4. This will ensure that the lens will better capture sufficient light and ensure high quality photos and video recordings.

The Pro model may get a 6.73-inch AMOLED display with a WQHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1500 nits. The screen will likely be rounded, have symmetrical screen edges and be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. There is also support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision.

Latest Processor

It can be assumed that the new model will be powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the chipset that supports the 5G network. This chipset can also be found in the Xiaomi 12 (Pro). In addition, the phone is said to have 12 GB of LPDRR5 RAM and 256 GB of storage. Also, like all other Xiaomi phones, the device will run Android 12 in combination with the MIUI 13 user interface.

Fast charging will probably also be possible with this device. The Mix 5 Pro has a 5,000mAh battery. It will most likely work for 200W wired and 50W wireless charging. With a 200W charger, an empty battery is fully charged in just 10 minutes.

Price and availability

It is not yet clear whether the phone will be available internationally. The Mi Mix 4 is only available in China, but the 2019 Mi Mix 3 is available in the international market. You can still buy it in the Netherlands.

No information is available about the price yet. The Mi Mix 4 was converted for about 660 euros (5,000 CNY) sold.
