It is less than a week after the launch of the iPhone 14, when a developer has already made his own version of the Dynamic Island. Those are notifications that appear as popups around the camera notch. The feature will be available soon as a theme for Xiaomi smartphones.
Xiaomi with Dynamic Island
For years we have seen Android phones appear with a smaller notch in the screen for the camera, instead of a classic ‘notch’. Apple also said goodbye to the notch last week with its iPhone 14 and opts for a pill-shaped notch, which it very nicely calls a ‘Dynamic Island’. Striking: around the notch, all your notifications appear in a pop-up, and when you tap them they are enlarged on the screen.
Of course, it wouldn’t be long before this feature becomes available on Android phones in any way, but we didn’t have to wait very long for it. TechDroider has discovered a theme for Xiaomi’s MIUI software shell, which displays notifications around the camera notch. you can do it already in this tweet see. Trend for Android?
It’s common for Apple to adopt ideas we’ve seen with Android phones before — *Cough*, Always-on screen — but that process also works in the opposite direction. So it wouldn’t be surprising if we could soon see Android manufacturers come up with their own version of the Dynamic Island notifications in the new version of their software shell. We may already see it happening with the rollout of Android 13. As for the theme for Xiaomi phones, it is currently pending approval from Xiaomi.
