If you use one or more Apple devices, chances are you are also using Apple’s software. Subscribing to Apple One can then be financially interesting. In this article, we answer the question: what is Apple One?
Apple One is a combination bundle with four paid Apple services, with a lower monthly price than individual subscriptions. The Apple One subscription is therefore a cheaper choice if you want to use those services, and can also be shared with family members.
Subscriptions for yourself or your family
At the time of writing, two Apple One bundles are available in the Netherlands. The individual subscription is only intended for you, while the family subscription can be used by six people in total. It is not the intention to share this subscription with friends or family who do not live with you. Apple also offers a Premier subscription abroad, but it is not (yet?) Available here.
The 4 services of Apple One
The Apple One subscription gives you unlimited access to four services. These are Apple Music, Apple TV +, Apple Arcade and iCloud. With the individual plan, you get 50 GB of storage space in iCloud. With the family plan you have access to 2 TB, or 2000 GB.
Apple Music is Apple’s ad-free music streaming service that competes with the likes of Spotify. You can watch films, series and documentaries on Apple TV +. Good to know: there are relatively few. The offer is not comparable to services such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. With Apple Arcade you can play over a hundred games for free and with no ads. There are also no in-app purchases in these games. So you do not have to worry that your child will accidentally buy extras for a monthly salary.
Note that not all services from Apple One work on non-Apple devices. For example, Apple Arcade can only be used on Apple devices and you cannot watch Apple TV + on an Android smartphone or tablet.
What does Apple One cost?
The individual Apple One subscription costs EUR 14.95 per month. That is six euros cheaper per month than if you take out separate subscriptions to the four services.
The Apple One family plan costs 19.95 euros per month and, as mentioned, can be used by a maximum of six people. Those who use this subscription with six people therefore pay 3.33 euros per person per month. Don’t forget that you also share the 2 TB iCloud storage space.

Does a subscription to Apple One sound like something to you, but do you want to try the service first? That can and does not cost anything. Apple offers a one-month trial period. If you like it, you don’t have to do anything and after that month Apple will charge the price of an individual or family subscription (depending on your choice). Does Apple One prove to be nothing for you within your trial month? Then cancel on time. Good to know: after the end of your trial month, you pay per month for the service. You can cancel at any time, after which your subscription will end the following month.
