YouTube is making its Premium subscription a lot more expensive in several countries around the world. Here’s what you need to know.
YouTube Premium is getting a lot more expensive
It has not even been a year since YouTube raised the prices for the Premium subscription. The Netherlands remained unaffected at the time, but in Germany, for example, YouTube Premium became one euro more expensive. The price went from 11.99 euros to 12.99 euros. In the meantime, YouTube Premium has become more expensive again. At least in Europe, South America and a number of countries in Asia and the Middle East. This time, the Netherlands has to believe it and Germany remains unaffected.
The price increases are monitored on Reddit and so far, customers in the following countries are being notified that YouTube Premium has become more expensive: Belgium, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates.
These are the new prices
The biggest price increase for a single subscription is in Norway, where prices have increased by a whopping 42 percent. Previously, YouTube Premium cost around 10.23 euros per month there, but now it is almost 15 euros. In Sweden, the family subscription now costs over 13 euros per month, compared to around 10.50 euros. On average, the subscription for one person has become 18 percent more expensive and for a family 43 percent.
Where Germany has been paying 12.99 euros per month for almost a year, the price in the Netherlands was still 11.99 euros. But in the meantime, YouTube has also become more expensive here. A subscription for one person now costs 13.99 euros here. For an entire family you now have to pay 25.99 euros (previously 17.99 euros). If you take out a subscription via the YouTube app on your iPhone, you pay even more because of the commissions that Apple charges.

Many YouTube Premium customers affected by the pricing changes have already expressed on Reddit that they plan to cancel their subscriptions due to the significant increases to family plans.
YouTube Premium has not become more expensive in the United States and Canada, among other places. In the US, a subscription for one person costs $13.99 per month. For a family, you pay $22.99 per month.
