Apple has introduced a new feature for your iPhone that turns your phone into a full-fledged alarm clock. This is what the new Standby mode on your iPhone in iOS 17 looks like and what you can do with it..
Apple unveils iOS 17
During WWDC 2023, Apple presented iOS 17 as expected. The update brings many improvements to your iPhone, such as a Journal app (diary) to your phone and AirDrop is expanded with NameDrop. Apps such as Phone, FaceTime and Messages are also being overhauled in iOS 17.

Another completely new feature for your iPhone in iOS 17 is the Standby mode. With the feature it will soon be possible to use your phone as a full-fledged alarm clock or support on your desk, for example. Your iPhone is then in a horizontal or vertical position and only shows information that you find important. We tell you how the new Standby mode works on your iPhone.

With the new Stand-by function for your iPhone, you get to see full-screen information that is easy to read from a distance. You decide what exactly is displayed on the Standby screen. You can then choose from different widgets, photos, different types of clocks and Live activities. And the good news: the function also works with iPhones without an always-on screen!
Standby is mainly useful for using your iPhone as background support. Your phone will soon serve as an alarm clock on your bedside table or as a diary on your desk. To enable Standby mode, your iPhone must be connected to the charger. Do you have an iPhone 14 Pro (Max)? Then Standby with the always-on display is always active.
This is when iOS 17 appears
The new Standby mode is therefore one of the many functions that will come to your iPhone in iOS 17. It will be a while before iOS 17 appears, because Apple usually only releases the final update in the fall. The new iOS update will then be launched at the same time as the iPhone 15. This is expected to happen in the second or third week of September, so wait a little longer.
