More news about Apple mixed reality headset

We’ve been hearing a lot about the Apple mixed-reality headset in recent months. As a ‘unique selling point’, these VR/AR glasses from Apple should ensure a smooth transition from AR to VR and back. That is why the Apple Reality is rumored to have two 8K screens and a very powerful chip under the hood.

According to DigiTimes mass production of the Apple mixed-reality headset is expected to begin at the end of March 2023. If this information is correct, we will see the first official unveiling of this product a month later.

‘Pegatron starts mass production of mixed-reality headset’

According to DigiTimes, Apple has designated Pegatron as the manufacturer for mass production. We already knew that this new product is in the production validation process. Then it was said that production won’t start until the end of 2024. So it remains to be seen whether the headset will appear in the spring of 2023, as DigiTimes says.

Because Apple is targeting the business markets first with this mixed-realty headset, the first edition of the ‘mass production will be limited’. As a result, the price will also be higher than the final recommended retail price for consumers. DigiTimes estimates that “only” about 2.5 million units will hit the market in the beginning.

This is what we expect the Apple VR/AR glasses

According to the rumors at the beginning of the year, Apple would present the headset sometime in 2022. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported in June that Apple is aiming for an announcement in January 2023. Given this estimate is somewhat similar to DigiTimes’s, a launch and mass production of the Apple mixed-reality headset in 2023 seems increasingly likely.

In addition to the 8K screens, powerful chip and the seamless transition between VR and AR, these VR glasses would get no less than 14 cameras. Half of these sensors are inside and track the users’ faces. This should ensure that the avatar accurately reflects the expressions.
