The new week is just around the corner, but before that, let’s take a look back at the last seven days. The editors of iPhoned has rounded up the best iOS apps, games and updates from last week.
Last week’s 5 best iOS apps
The App Store is working overtime every week. New apps, updates for existing programs and games are added all the time. You probably don’t notice this much, because most of it is not worth downloading. iPhoned therefore separate the wheat from the chaff every Sunday. Here are this week’s best iOS apps, updates, and games.
1. Mario Kart Tour
Playing Mario Kart with your friends via your iPhone: starting this week it’s possible. If you only want to race against people from the Netherlands, you have to give the app permission to your location. In addition, there is a distinction between racing with acquaintances and racing against strangers.
To race against others online, tap ‘multiplayer’ in the bottom left of the app to start a game. If you want to play against friends, choose ‘Create room’. If you don’t, the app will look for online opponents for you to compete against. You can choose from a ‘Standard’ or ‘Gold’ race.

2. Spotify
After the major update at the end of February, Spotify also adjusted the home screen of the iOS app this week. From now on, after opening the app, you can immediately see the playlists, podcasts and albums that you often listen to. The music service app greets you in the morning with “good morning” and this also changes during the day to “good afternoon” and “good evening” .
The home screen doesn’t just show you what you often listen to: if you scroll down, you’ll see what you’ve played recently. Also, the app recommends playlists, albums, and artists of certain genres based on what you’re listening to.
3. Harvest Moon: Mad Dash
The well-known farm game series has added a simple puzzle game to the collection. In the iOS app version of Harvest Moon: Mad Dash, you try to grow different types of crops by placing them on the land.
By planting small blocks of crops against other blocks of the same species, you create larger blocks, and therefore larger crops. While harvesting the big crops you immediately earn all kinds of bonus points. It doesn’t look much like the ‘regular’ Harvest Moon games, but it is certainly entertaining.
4. Hidden through time
If you love Where’s Wally, you’ll love Hidden through time. This version of the well-known Hidden Folks, made by Dutch developers, takes you on a journey through the ages. In this interactive puzzle you click on the different objects in the landscape to find the little figures and objects.
Do you want to lose your creative egg? In addition to the game, you also have the option to create your own levels in the editor. You also play levels here that have been created by other players worldwide. You will be happy with this for hours.
5. YouTube
YouTube overhauled its iOS app last week. However, it is not a revolutionary change. From now on you will see a new tab at the bottom of the app: Explore. Or, when you have set the Dutch language, Discover.
The name speaks for itself. In this tab you can discover new videos. YouTube is trying to make it easier to discover new creators. It may take a few days to receive the new update.
