Developer Ubisoft doesn’t just make South Park console games. Now you can also adventure on the iPhone or iPad with Kyle, Kenny, Cartman and Stan.
1. Play a cartoon
In South Park: Phone Destroyer, you play as a newbie, the ‘Ultimate Phone User’, who takes on a series of battles alongside well-known characters from the series. So you face cowboys, pirates and cyborgs, but you also fight against gods. The game looks completely like the cartoon and has the well-known voices, which tell the story through funny dialogues. In total there are sixty story missions to play through.
2. Kind of Hearthstone
If you’ve ever played Hearthstone, you’ll immediately notice the similarities with this South Park game. You also collect cards in this game, which you have to use during battles. In total there are more than eighty cards that you can unlock.
However, unlike Hearthstone, the turns in Phone Destroyer are not alternate. At the bottom of the screen, a bar fills with energy and you can play cards based on the amount of filled squares. They immediately come to life and start fighting the enemy. Each card offers a different function with a new character. By using cards at the right times, you determine your tactics.

3. Multiplayer
Tactical play comes into its own, especially in the online mode. In it you play against other people and that is a lot more challenging than the single player missions. In multiplayer you have to expand collected cards to build a smart deck. The cards presented to you in matches are always randomly selected. Every four hours you can claim a free pack of cards. Or you pay with real money to speed up that process.
4. Humor
As you are used to from South Park, there is plenty to laugh about with this game. Phone Destroyer relies on meta-humor, because with satirical jokes it is always made clear that people nowadays spend a lot of time on their smartphones. And that while you also play the game on a phone. It is fun to play with, for example, the player is ‘called’ by Cartman in the beginning via FaceTime.
