Alpine has really enjoyed itself on the A110 and for good reason: for the first time, the French are participating in the famous hill climb of Pikes Peak. This roughly 500 hp Alpine A110 can get the job done.

On June 25, it will again be the turn of numerous car manufacturers, tuners and daredevils to prove themselves in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Alpine is also participating for the first time and of course it is taking the A110 from the stable. Not just the street-legal A110 with a maximum of 300 hp, of course. No, it has prepared one that is almost only reminiscent of the regular A110 in terms of basic shapes.

Alpine calls it ‘the most extreme A110 ever’ and that doesn’t seem to lie. The compact sports coupé is equipped with heavy wing work all around and has a rear spoiler cut in half that protrudes considerably in both width and height. There is extra LED lighting on the back of the spoiler, a bit like the Formula 1 cars have today. The ‘dorsal fin’ that runs from the roof to the spoiler is reminiscent of Le Mans prototypes.

Alpine does not reveal many details about the powertrain, but in any case it is an internal combustion engine that receives extra air via a scoop on the roof and delivers about 500 hp. Alpine also says it was able to keep the weight just under a ton: the climbing goat weighs 950 kilograms. Just under two months and then the Alpine A110 Pikes Peak can prove itself in the almost 20 km long hill climb in the American state of Colorado.
