It is time again for an update, because the second public beta of iOS 26 and iPados 26 can now be downloaded. This update comes a few days after the fifth beta has appeared for developers.

iOS 26: This is new in public beta 2

The public beta 2 of iOS 26 comes with many functions that were also in beta 5 for developers. For example, Apple has implemented several subtle tweaks to Liquid Glass, as Apple calls the new ‘glass’ look of iOS 26.

The AirDrop icon has been given a slightly different appearance and the buttons that appear when you want to remove apps from the home screen are now also transparent. The access screen has also had a freshening up with subtle animations. You can also see these new animations in the control panel.

Almost every Apple application is expanded with features in iOS 26. These adjustments sometimes require some extra explanation. When you first open an Apple app in iOS 26, you will see in a window what the changes are.

This way you can install the public beta of iOS 26 on your iPhone

Installing the public beta is not difficult at all. Make sure you make a backup of your iPhone in advance. Open the ‘settings’ and tap your iCloud account. Choose ‘Backup in iCloud’ and ‘make now backup’.

Then you can install the public beta 2 of iOS 26 in the way below:

• Open the ‘settings’ on your iPhone;
• Go to ‘General’ and tap ‘Software update’;
• Choose ‘iOS 26 Public Beta’ under ‘Beta updates’;
• Tap ‘previous’ (the arrow to the left);
• Install the update.

With iOS 26, Apple introduces a striking new look: Liquid Glass. This gives your iPhone a decent makeover with transparent elements and effects that look like glass. You can see this especially at menus and buttons or when you are scrolling in the app. The background can then be seen a bit through the buttons.
