Apple releases AirTag 2: longer range, louder and a lower price

The AirTag that appeared in 2021 is finally being succeeded by the new AirTag 2 that Apple has now released. You need to know this.

For four years, Apple has changed virtually nothing about the first generation of the AirTag. That is now a thing of the past, because Apple has released the AirTag 2, which, among other things, has a new processor and a much greater range for ‘Accurate search‘. But that’s not the most important improvement.

The most important innovation is the privacy of the AirTag 2. The AirTag is not only used to track items such as keys or wallets, but also misused to secretly track people. That is why Apple has made a change with the AirTag 2.

Better speakers

The speakers of the AirTag 2 are a lot better than those of the first version. The speakers are an important part of detecting the device, especially if a strange AirTag moves with you. In that case, you will receive a notification on your iPhone, then a sound will be played on the AirTag. This way you can easily find the AirTag among your belongings, even if it is not yours.

The new speakers play sound 50 percent louder and can therefore be heard twice as far. A more important improvement if you use this feature regularly.

Greater reach

The AirTag 2 is equipped with the Apple Ultra Wideband chip, which makes it easier to find. Precise Search lets you find lost objects that are up to 50 percent further away than with the previous generation. Thanks to the updated Bluetooth chip, the search range has also increased considerably. Accurate Search is now also possible from the Apple Watch Series 9 or newer and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or newer.
