Volkswagen is considering putting Lamborghini on its own feet and taking it to the stock exchange, insiders report on Thursday Reuters.
According to the sources, Volkswagen would already have asked bankers and investors whether there is enthusiasm for this. In case of an IPO, the German group would want to keep a majority interest.
Other plans discussed include a closer technical partnership with Audi, which, like Lamborghini, is part of the Volkswagen Group. Earlier this week, Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali left, who will become the new Formula 1 boss starting next season.
The future of Lamborghini, like that of Bugatti, will be further mapped out in November. Then the Volkswagen summit discusses its plans for the next five years. Earlier this year it was announced that Bugatti may be sold.
