Lexus warms up for new NX

Lexus will pull the curtain on the new NX later this month. The unveiling is scheduled for June 12. Lexus has started the teaser mill again today and shows a warming plate for the second time.

The Lexus NX is seven years old and that means that the Japanese are undoubtedly just as busy developing the second generation. The successor to Lexus’ current competitor to the BMW X3 and Volvo XC60 appeared too early in a video earlier this year and earlier this month Lexus itself released a first teaser plate of the upcoming NX. The silhouette can be seen in a new teaser photo.

For the new NX, Lexus sticks to the concept of the current generation presented in 2014. In fact, broadly speaking, the design also seems to be based on that of its predecessor. The car is so familiar to us that we would almost think that Lexus is giving the current NX a thorough facelift. However, it is more likely that the new type is on a different platform than the current model. The NX that you can still find at Lexus dealers, shares its technology with the previous generation RAV4 and Harrier. We aim to put the upcoming NX neatly on the more modern GA-K base of the current RAV4. In addition to being a regular hybrid, the RAV4 is also available as a plug-in hybrid. You can therefore count on the new Lexus NX also coming on the market as a plug-in.

Since the Dutch launch, 1,130 copies of the NX have been sold in our country. In 2015, the car had its best sales year, when 274 copies left the showroom. In 2019, the NX seemed to have reached its lowest point with just under 100 units, but in 2020 the enthusiasm was even worse, judging by the only 62 units that were sold. The NX will soon not only be built in Japan, but also in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.
