Google Translate is your translator on vacation

The Google Translate app translates written and spoken foreign words into Dutch.

Leave the dictionaries at home, and looking up foreign words on the internet is (almost) no longer necessary. The Google Translate app is a handy aid when on holiday abroad. The app translates spoken or written words and can also indicate how something should be pronounced. And all for free!

Google Translate can be downloaded in the App Store for iPhones and iPads and the Play Store for phones and tablets with Android.

After downloading, the app is ready to use. By default, it opens with the translations between Dutch and English. You can switch the languages or choose another foreign language. Then there are several options. You make a recording with the camera of the text that has to be translated. If you have multiple texts on the screen, mark the desired text manually. The app then translates what it says.

It is also possible to record text that is translated, both from a foreign language into Dutch and vice versa. You or someone else speaks the text via the microphone, and the translation is immediately visible. Finally, you can use a drawing pen or keyboard to enter foreign words to translate or pronounce them.
