If you use more than what is in your bundle, you will pay out-of-bundle costs. You should pay attention to this with your mobile subscription.
Outside the bundle costs at a glance
If you make more calls or use more mobile data than what is included in your subscription, you will be faced with Out-of-bundle costs. And how high those costs are varies considerably. You may not immediately think of it, but it is worth checking how this applies to you. To help you, we have listed the costs of the different providers for you!
There are eleven mobile providers in the Netherlands and they charge their own out-of-bundle charges. There are often different rates for data, calling minutes and text messages outside the bundle, but not always. The rates we mention here apply in the Netherlands.
Outside the bundle rates
1. KPN
Calling minutes outside the bundle cost at KPN 0.23 euros and you pay for text messages outside the bundle 0.07 euros per piece (rounded, in reality it is 0.073 euros). From research by Opensignal (2023) it turns out that KPN, at 166.5 Mbps, has the fastest 5G download speed of the three network providers (KPN, Odido (formerly T-Mobile) and Vodafone) in the Netherlands.

2. Budget Mobile
Budget Mobiel has one Out-of-Bundle Rate and that is 0.30 euros per minute/SMS. However, you do have the option to purchase an additional 200 calling minutes/SMS for 4 euros when your bundle runs out.

3. Simyo
At Simyo, calling minutes and text messages cost outside the bundle 0.31 euros per minute/SMS. Internet usage outside the bundle costs 0.15 euros per MB and is charged per KB.

4. Youfone
Youfone has an Out-of-Bundle Rate of 0.30 euros per min/SMS, but for 5 euros you can purchase an additional unlimited bundle that is valid until the end of the month. Internet outside your bundle costs here 0.10 euros per MB (per session up to 100 KB).

5. Odido
With Odido it is extremely difficult to determine the Out-of-bundle costs compared to other providers. Ultimately it works, but it is anything but easy. Incomprehensible why Odido chooses this.
With Hello subscriptions you pay outside your bundle 0.25 euros per minute. If you have a Smart Seconde 50 subscription, you pay for calling minutes and text messages outside the bundle 0.30 euros per unit, at Smart Seconds it is 200 0.15 euros per unit. Internet use remains free when your bundle runs out, but it is slower (64 Kbit/s). If you don’t want that, you can buy a so-called GB supplement (for example, 500 MB costs 6 euros).

6. Lebara
The Out-of-bundle costs at Lebara are 0.15 euros per minute to mobile numbers and 0.02 euros to landline numbers. A starting fee applies 0.15 euros. Texting outside your bundle costs you 0.15 euros and mobile internet costs outside your bundle 0.10 euros per MB.

7. Ben
With Ben you will almost immediately find a handy rate overview, which contains everything you need to know. The Out-of-bundle rate is also very clear: 0.31 euros per minute or text message, regardless of your subscription. You are shown using the internet outside the bundle 0.10 euros per MB, but you can also buy an extra bundle, for example 500 MB for 5 euros.
8. Hollandsnieuwe
Hollandsnieuwe throws data, calling minutes and text messages all into one lump and that also has advantages for you outside the bundle costs. If your bundle runs out, you pay 0.01 euros. And that is per minute, per text message or per MB.

9. Simple
It took some searching at Simpel, but we also found a rate overview here. Here you pay outside your bundle 0.31 euros You then pay per minute/text message and for internet use 0.15 euros per MB. Simpel has already calculated for you that with these rates video calling costs around 0.51 euros per minute. If you want to purchase an additional 500 MB, it will cost you 4.50 euros here.
10. Vodafone
Vodafone also has a fairly clear overview of rates. If you exceed your bundle here, you will pay 0.25 euros per minute. Using the internet outside your bundle will cost you 2 euros for 200 MB.

11. 50plus mobile
Provider 50plus mobile has a very clear overview of rates on the website. The Out-of-bundle costs are there 0.23 euros per minute or text message 0.10 euros per MB. You can choose to purchase an additional 200 calling minutes and 200 text messages for 3.50 euros. For the same amount you can also opt for an extra 250 MB.

Excluding the bundle costs
As you can see, many rates are fairly close to each other, but not all of them are. If you are someone who regularly exceeds their bundle, it is worth taking this into account. Hollandsnieuwe is not a bad option! Furthermore, it is a mystery why Odido de Buiten has hidden the bundle rates so deeply. That only causes irritation.
