Microsoft DefenderUI is the Windows module to protect your system from mischief like malware, adware and hackers. Unfortunately, there are quite a few scattered options, not all of which are accessible. DefenderUI brings it out nicely.
You download DefenderUI at www.defenderui.com (for Windows 10 and Windows 11). You can install the app with a few clicks. At the first start you can English as the interface language and indicate a security profile: Recommended, Interactive, Aggressive or Default.
Choose Default to activate the factory settings from Microsoft, but the makers of the program themselves guess so Recommended unless you’re a little stricter (Interactive) or even very strictly (Aggressive). In the next screen you can always switch to another profile via the arrow button at the top right.
You can also build your own profile from a handful of tabs using numerous Windows Defender options. The changes will take effect automatically. Unfortunately, except for a few items, the app does not provide additional feedback. Not sure what an option does? Better leave it undisturbed.
From the context menu
The program is also accessible from an icon in the Windows system tray. Right click on this and choose Show DefenderUI for the program window. You can also scan your PC for malware from this context menu, but these options can also be found on the tab Home (even more scanning options are available here: fast, Sufficient, Offline or Custom Scan) and you can also update the virus signatures here.
