Easy on the road with an e-ticket

E-tickets are increasingly replacing paper tickets or tickets. Super handy and fast.

E-tickets are increasingly used: for cinemas, amusement parks, air travel and train travel. Such a ticket is an online ticket or ticket that you buy over the internet. So it’s just a ticket, but it will be in your email or a special app, such as ‘tickets’ in the NS app. So no paper ticket. You just open it on your PC, smartphone or tablet. There is a code on the ticket that you must have scanned. However, not all tickets you receive by mail are e-tickets. Usually it is a PDF that you have to print. Therefore, read carefully what is written on the ticket. Sometimes more information can be found in the email that came with the e-ticket or on the organizer’s website.

Take care of a few things before you travel or attend an event. It is useful to download the ticket in advance. For example, check whether the correct app is already on the phone and install it if necessary. Also charge the phone battery. You cannot show a ticket when the battery is empty. It is therefore useful to share the ticket with the people you are going out with; if someone has an empty phone, the ticket can be scanned via another phone.

An e-ticket must be scanned by a scanner. Sometimes this is a fixed scanner such as at an NS entrance gate or a mobile scanner such as at a football match or concert. The scanners need enough light for this. Therefore, increase the brightness of the smartphone, so that the ticket is clearly legible. Learn how that works on an Android phone or iOS device.
