If you live near a train track, you will be bothered by noise. Despite the new “whisper brakes”, there is still a lot to be done.
The 57-kilometre Gotthard Base Tunnel in Switzerland has been in operation for more than five years. Since then, 130 to 160 trains have traveled through it every day, two-thirds of which are freight trains and one-third passenger trains. The subalpine tube enables a flat rail route from Genoa to Rotterdam. However, in Germany there are not only large industrial centers in the catchment area, but also many residential areas. And there is strong resistance to the noise from the rails. In the first place it goes
