Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis has something electric in the barrel. During Auto Shanghai, the brand will present a new electric model, according to a teaser plate released by the brand.
Genesis is going crazy. After a completely renewed model range in a short time, the brand will soon come with an electric car. Genesis is releasing a teaser record of what it will showcase in China later this week. We see the cream of a car that blends in perfectly with the rest of the Genesis range with its layered headlights. However, the grille is closed, which of course indicates the presence of an electric powertrain.
Exactly what Genesis has in the development chambers is not entirely certain. The Koreans have registered a series of names for electric models. It is now clear that electric versions of the GV70 and GV80, respectively the GV70e and GV80e, are coming. The model’s headlights on the teaser plate are more like the GV80 than the GV70, but connect slightly differently to the grille and the way the hood connects to the whole is slightly different from Genesis’ largest SUV. It is therefore quite possible that Genesis will present its equivalent of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 in China, which for the time being is codenamed ‘JW’ and which has already appeared in camouflage trim. There is also another possibility. For example, Genesis is working on a new G90 and that top sedan will also be an electric version.
We’ll know more next week!
