Google will not let April 1 pass by and adds the classic game Snake to Google Maps. That’s how you activate it.
Google Maps Snake now playable for April 1
Today is the day of the year when companies show their funniest side. That usually turns out wrong, but Google Maps has managed to turn it into something fun for a few years in a row, against the odds.
This year, the popular map service turns into the retro game Snake. The update is now available on both iOS and Android and will remain so for the rest of the week. After that, the game disappears from the app again. Don’t have Google Maps on your iPhone? Then you can also play the game via your browser.
You can play Snake in Google Maps by simply opening the app on your iPhone. So you don’t have to download an update from the App Store. As soon as you open the app, you will automatically receive a notification on your screen with which you can start the game.
In Snake you have several cities to choose from, or the complete world map. After that, it’s up to you to pick up as many passengers as possible with a small train while trying not to bump into your own wagons or run into the edge of the map. The game saves your highest score.
Google and April 1
Last year, Google temporarily added Mario Kart to Maps, so that instead of the standard car, you could see the mustachioed plumber driving down the road. As far as we’re concerned, other companies could learn something from that.
Samsung already announced a vase last week that you can also use as a fire extinguisher and Coolblue has been using boxes with built-in solar panels to charge your devices since this weekend. Fortunately, it is almost April 2 already.
