The First Aid app is indispensable for information about accidents and common injuries and finding AEDs.


The Red Cross first aid app should actually be on everyone’s smartphone. He provides all kinds of useful information about providing first aid in the event of a variety of accidents and serious accidents.

When used for the first time, the app asks for permission to send notifications in the event of an emergency. The app also requests access to the location. You will also be asked if you would like to receive the newsletter. You can adjust your answers later via the menu.

The app tells you what to do in all kinds of medical situations. From fainting to bruising, from a nosebleed to a burn. The main screen lists common accidents. Tap a topic to open a step-by-step plan. Step by step you will see an explanation with pictures and spoken advice. Tap the cross in the top right to go back to the main screen.

When you tap on a subject, you immediately see a step-by-step plan with an explanation and a drawing of what needs to be done. There are also spoken instructions, for those who need both hands to help.

In previous versions of the app, an overview of nearby AEDs was shown on a map. Unfortunately this has disappeared.

The menus are at the bottom. The parts open with a tap of a button. Sometimes it is necessary to tap a cross at the top right of a screen if you want to close this screen.

  • Home: takes you to the overview screen.
  • First Aid: Opens an alphabetical list of accident types. The search bar at the top: search for a complaint or symptom.
  • Webshop: opens a digital store with courses and materials (for a fee).
  • More: Opens the settings.
