Instagram: How to Temporarily Disable Recommended Posts

Prioritize the publications of your friends rather than those suggested by the platform by deactivating them for a month.

For several days, Instagram has been the target of many controversies. The social network has indeed strongly criticized for having adopted an interface too close to that of TikTok but also for having modified the algorithm used to suggest publications from accounts to which you are not subscribed.

Over the past few months, Meta has tried everything to compete with TikTok in the short video sector. The service has embarked on a particularly aggressive race to promote its Reels, a short video format broadcast on Instagram, but also on Facebook. Over time and the many changes made by Instagram, the feed that was once devoted exclusively to photos is now polluted with suggestions for short videos posted by accounts you do not follow.

But the latest changes made by the social network, very poorly received by users, have caused a real outcry. So much so that celebrities like Kim Kardashian or Kylie Jenner got involved, not hesitating to publicly criticize the changes inaugurated by Instagram. They even went so far as to share a petition uploaded for “Remake of Instagram, Instagram”.

Faced with this outcry, Adam Mosseri, the boss of Instagram, spoke in a Story published a few days ago, indicating that he was pausing the deployment of these new features. He also mentioned a great option if you want to decrease the display of suggested and recommended posts on their feed.

It is indeed possible to temporarily pause the recommendations offered by the social network. The operation, which is however not final, will give you a respite of thirty days before your thread returns to normal. Here’s how.

1.Find a recommended publication

Open Instagram and scroll through the posts displayed on your feed until you find a Post Suggestion.

2. Show options

Then tap the button with a cross (X) displayed at the top right of the suggested post.

3. Temporarily Disable Suggested Posts

In the pop-up that appears, tap Temporarily hide all suggested posts in the feed for 30 days.

Your feed should normally be free of any Instagram-recommended posts for a month. You can repeat this operation after 30 days to prevent your feed from being polluted by publications from accounts that you do not follow.
