iOS 15.5: These New Features Are Now In Apple Podcasts

Do you like listening to podcasts? Then check out this article about all the new features that Apple has added to the Podcasts app in iOS 15.5!

iOS 15.5: Apple Podcasts gets a major update

Apple’s Podcasts app has received many new features since the iOS 15.5, iPadOS 15.5 and macOS Monetrey 12.4 update. This makes navigating in the app easier and clearer. It’s now also easier to delete downloaded episodes.

You can delete podcasts by going to your iPhone’s Settings, scrolling down and tapping ‘Podcasts’. Under the heading ‘Downloads’ you will now find ‘Delete played downloads’. Enabling this will automatically remove the download 24 hours after you play a downloaded episode. This is extremely useful if you have an iPhone with relatively little storage memory.

Navigation in Apple Podcasts is now easier

In iOS 15.5, Apple Podcasts also has new navigation features. You can now browse shows by season. In addition, you filter episodes by playback status. Are you halfway through a show and want to eavesdrop on it? Then tick that! The makers can now also offer annual subscriptions (with a discount) instead of just a monthly subscription.

It has been possible for almost a year now to pay extra for your favorite podcasts. In exchange, the makers offer extra (long) episodes or let the listener play their show without advertisements.

Apple Podcasts must catch up

Apple Podcasts has been lagging behind the competition for a while. Spotify has been working for years to take over the entire audio world, in addition to the music industry. With the new timeline function, this Swedish streaming giant has already made it easier and faster to discover your new favorite podcast. Unfortunately, we do not yet find this functionality in the iOS 15.5 update of Apple Podcasts.
