The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have the largest screens we’ve ever seen on an iPhone. Apple has pushed these changes even further with the iPhone 16’s display.
Biggest iPhones Ever
Apple has unveiled its new 2024 iPhones, and there have been some big changes – literally. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have a display that’s a lot bigger than what we’ve seen on previous iPhones. The iPhone 16 Pro has a 6.3-inch screen, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch display. That’s a difference from previous years, when the iPhone 15 Pro had a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max had a 6.7-inch display.
This is the first time that the Pro models have different screen sizes than the ‘normal’ iPhones. As a result, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has the largest smartphone screen that Apple has ever released. Just like last year, the screen edges have become thinner again, the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max have the thinnest edges of all Apple products. That’s not all, because the screen is also much sturdier.
iPhone 16 has an extremely sturdy display
Apple uses the same Super Retina XDR Display on the iPhone 16 as on the iPhone 15. The peak brightness has also remained the same, which is normally 1000 nits for all models, 1600 nits for HDR and 2000 nits in outdoor light. What is new is the support for a screen brightness of only 1 nit, which makes a difference especially with the screen of the iPhone 16 Pro (Max). The always-on screen is updated more often, but requires less battery power.
Unfortunately, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus still have to do without the always-on display. Apple has made an important change in the finishing of the screens, because with the iPhone 16 it is Ceramic Shield much stronger. That’s the coating that Apple applies to the screen, so that the display is less susceptible to damage. The Ceramic Shield is 50 percent stronger than the iPhone 15, meaning the iPhone 16’s screen can withstand a beating.
No further changes
Furthermore, Apple has not made any major adjustments to the screen of the iPhone 16. The iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus have the same screen dimensions as the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus. The smallest iPhone has a 6.1-inch display, the Plus model has a 6.7-inch screen. We also see the Dynamic Island on all iPhones this year, nothing has changed there.
