The Lamborghini Miura – some say the most beautiful car ever made – is one of the most legendary Lamborghinis in the brand’s rich history. The always outspoken Ares Design is working on a car that pays homage to the Miura.
Some patent drawings surfaced by Techzle show a coupé designed by Ares Design that is punctuated from all sides with references to the Lamborghini Miura. Although the proportions, especially from the side, do not quite match that classic Lamborghini, it is clear that Ares Design pays homage to the Miura with the model that is yet to be presented.
The rear is clearly inspired by that of the Lamborghini Miura. In particular, the grille covering the entire width of the rear and the louvres above the rear window are typical Miura design elements. We find more references in the form of the cooling openings integrated in the door behind the side windows and, of course, in the design of the headlights. The ‘eyelashes’ as the original Miura had, however, the creation of Ares Design must be lacking, although the P400 SV variant of the Miura did not have them either.
It seems unlikely that the creation of Ares Design, just like the primal Miuras, will have a V12 placed transversely behind the front seats. There may be a V10 in the back, just like in the Lamborghini Huracán-based homage to the DeTomaso Pantera.
In 2006 Lamborghini itself showed a modern incarnation of the Miura, although that concept car never went into production. We know Ares Design from more special creations. The company, founded by ex-Lotus CEO Dany Bahar, has in the past showcased a Bentley Mulsanne Coupé, a reborn Ferrari 412, a Tesla Model S Convertible and many other idiosyncratic creations.
