Finally, it’s time for the big Mac update of 2021. macOS Monterey is now available to download and we’ll show you how to update your Apple computer.
Download macOS Monterey: this is how you do it
We had to wait quite a while, but finally macOS Monterey has been released. The big Mac update of 2021 follows macOS Big Sur and has a number of cool new features. However, the changes are slightly smaller this year, because the design remains the same, for example.
You can, however, get started with ‘Universal Control’. This new feature makes it easier to work on multiple Apple devices at the same time, for example by using your MacBook trackpad to control your iPad.
In addition, Safari is getting a major update and you can finally stream images to your Mac (Book) with AirPlay, for example from your iPhone. Furthermore, it is possible to FaceTime with Windows and Android users and there is the Focus mode to work undisturbed on your Mac.
How to install macOS Monterey
Downloading and installing macOS Monterey is simple. Simply follow the steps below to get the latest version. Pay attention: Since Monterey has just been released, it may take a while for you to see the update. If it’s not available to you yet, please try again later.
- Open the System Preferences;
- Click on the ‘Software Update’ button;
- Wait for macOS Big Sur to appear here and click ‘Update’;
- Wait for the download to complete and follow the steps on the screen.
It is important to know that your Mac will be restarted (several times) during the update. That’s why it’s smart to save your files and open documents beforehand, have enough storage space and make a backup of your Mac.
