MAN TGE with tracks is not allowed on the road

MAN has presented a very special version of its TGE in Austria. With the help of TrackSystems, it is fitted with tracks.

MAN already supplies the TGE in various shapes and sizes, but we did not yet know a MAN TGE with tracks as a van. Until today. In Austria, the VW subsidiary, together with the Tyrol-based TrackSystems, has fitted a four-wheel drive variant of the TGE with tracks. The two companies say they want to show with the special TGE what the van, which is affiliated with the Volkswagen Crafter, is capable of.

According to MAN, the TGE with tracks can be used in winter sports areas, among other things. The van offers space for eight passengers, but can also be used for freight transport. You shouldn’t be in a hurry, although it is already quite a lot that the TGE knows how to plow through the snow. According to MAN, it must be able to reach a speed of 25 to 50 km / h in the snow. In particular, the first three gears of the eight-speed automatic transmission are used. The bus is raised three centimeters on its legs to make room for the tracks. According to MAN and TrackSystems, they can be placed under the TGE in about an hour. They do, however, make the total package about 300 kilos heavier. MAN indicates that the TGE with tracks is not allowed on the road. If you still want to go on the asphalt, you have to put conventional wheels under it again. In any case, the Dutch MAN dealers do not supply the tracks.
