Playlists on YouTube (PC)

There are millions of videos from all over the world on YouTube. Just looking around is nice, but a more targeted search via playlists is often more useful. A playlist on YouTube is called a playlist. It contains videos, often bundled by theme. People and organizations can create their own playlists for others to view. For example, SeniorWeb has playlists about whatsapp and Windows.

The videos in a playlist play in a special order. The playlist creator determines that order. If you click and watch the first video of such a playlist, the second starts automatically, and so on. Of course until you click on another video or the playlist has ended. Then a random video starts on a topic related to it.

A playlist is created by someone. This can be an organization that presents its own videos to viewers in a clear manner. But also a person who makes a playlist for his own entertainment. Anyone with a Google account can sign in to YouTube and create a playlist. Google owns YouTube. It is not possible to create a playlist without logging in. You can watch videos on other people’s playlists without logging in.

Start a playlist on other users’ channel like this:

• Go to www.youtube.nl
• In the search bar at the top, type a search term, such as “SeniorWeb.”
• Press the Enter key.
• click on Filters.
• Click on the filter Channel.
• Scroll down a bit.
• Click on the channel, in this example SeniorWeb Netherlands.
• The SeniorWeb channel opens. Click on the tab playlists.
• All playlists that SeniorWeb made are listed together. Click on a topic that appeals to you.
• The first video of the playlist starts. When this one is done, YouTube will move on to the next one. On the right is a list of the videos in the playlist. Click on another video if you want to see another video.

Those who are logged in to YouTube can create their own playlists. These collections are then stored in the library of your own account. The playlist is private, so only for yourself, or public. Then other people can look at it too. Make a playlist like this:

• Go to www.youtube.nl
• If necessary, log in to YouTube first.
  • Click on the top right login.
  • Sign in with your Google account.
• Find a video you want to put in the playlist and play the video.
• Click below the video Save.
• click on Create new playlist.
• Under ‘Name’, type a clear name.
• click on Privately and choose from one of the following options:
  1. Public: Anyone can find and view the playlist.
  2. Not stated: The playlist can be viewed via a special link, but cannot be found on YouTube by default.
  3. Private: Only you logged in to YouTube can view the playlist.
• click on To create.

Now that the playlist has been created, you can add new videos to it:

• Find the desired video.
• Click on the video to start the video.
• Click below the video Save.
• Select the desired playlist.
• Click on the cross and close the window.

The created playlists and their videos are in your account. The order of the videos in the list is easy to adjust.

• Click on the name of your playlist in the left bar.
• Is there no left bar? First click on the button with the three lines at the top left of the screen.
• The playlist opens in the middle of the screen. The name of the list is there, and on the far right the added movies. To the left are pins next to the playlist name and the ‘Description’ box. Click on the pins to change the name or description.
• Point to one of the videos with the mouse pointer.
• Three dots appear on the far right. Click on the three dots.
• click on Move up or on Move down.

A playlist doesn’t have to be in your account forever. Delete a playlist like this:

• Click on the name of your playlist in the left bar.
• Is there no left bar? First click on the button with the three lines at the top left of the screen.
• Click the three dots below the playlist name, above the description box:

• click on Delete playlist.
• click on remove.

Logging out of your own computer is not necessary per se. But on a shared computer this is just as safe.

• Click on the circle in the top right corner with your name, photo or initials.
• click on Sign out.
• Click on Get on.
