It seems more and more that the iPhone 17 will become more expensive again. But how much will the new iPhones cost?
Price difference: the iPhone 17 is so much more expensive than the 16
As an Apple fan, you may have to be a little deeper into the pocket when you want to buy the iPhone 17. According to usually reliable analyst Jeff PU, the models are expected to become more expensive than their iPhone 16 counterparts.
The main cause appear to be the import tax introduced by Trump. Apple makes its iPhones in China and India. And for China, the company has to pay 20 percent taxes. But with the fickle of the American president that can of course also change every moment.
Tim Cook has said that the large part of the iPhones is currently being made in India. But in a part of the iPhones, Apple still has to pay that 20 percent. Apple therefore seems to pass on the extra costs to the consumer. According to analysts, this means a price increase between 50 and 100 dollars.
Apple could choose to increase the basic storage of the iPhone 17 Pro to 256 GB instead of the usual 128 GB with the price increase. This allows the storage of Pro version to be the same with the Pro Max.
If there is indeed a price difference of 50 dollars for all models of the iPhone 17, the American prices will be as follows:
- iPhone 17: from 799 to 849 dollars;
- iPhone 17 Air: 949 dollars (50 dollars more expensive than the iPhone 16 Plus);
- iPhone 17 Pro: from 999 to 1,049 dollars;
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: from 1199 to 1,249 dollars.
It remains to be seen how much we will eventually notice in the Netherlands.
