Create a separate WiFi network for guests. This keeps your own network safe and visitors can still use the internet.
Wi-Fi for guests
‘What’s the wifi here?’ has become almost as common a question when visitors come over as ‘How are you?’. Many people give their home network credentials without thinking about it. But then everyone has the login details for the WiFi. Do you not like that, but do you want visitors at home to be able to use the internet on their own device? Then set up a guest network for WiFi. Note: this is only possible if you have an Experia Box V10 or V10A.
Log in to modem
In order to set up a guest network, KPN customers must first log in to the modem (called the Experia Box at KPN). This requires a computer that is connected to the Wi-Fi network.
- Open the internet browser.
- Type in the address bar http://192.168.2.254
- Enter your password behind ‘Password’.
- Is this your first time logging in here? Then look on the back of the modem for the password. This is behind ‘Admin’. Type this password. After logging in for the first time, the website will immediately ask you to create a new password. Pick something you can remember but not easy to crack.
- Have you logged in before? Then enter your custom password.
- click on Login.
Guest network KPN
After logging in, an overview page will appear. This includes which devices are connected to the Wi-Fi network.
- Click in the menu (top) on WiFi.
- A new overview appears. Click on the left Guest WiFi.
- A new overview opens. Under ‘Guest WiFi on/off configuration’ click on On and on To apply.
- The guest network is active.
- In the block under ‘2.4GHz & 5 GHz’ you will find the (login) data of the network.
- If necessary, enter a new name for the guest network after ‘SSID Name’. Choose something you recognize easily, for example ‘Guest network of [uw naam]’.
- Enter a password that you can remember behind ‘Security key’. Choose a strong password that is different from that of the home network.
- click on To apply.
The guest network is saved. Check if the network is working by logging into it yourself.
