Snooze emails in Gmail

Snooze emails in Gmail

Gmail has many features and you probably don’t use them all. For example, did you know you can snooze emails? You will then receive a reminder later that you still have to follow up the email. Useful! In this article, we’ll explain how to snooze emails in Gmail browser and app.

If you receive a lot of emails during the day and therefore lose your overview, the snooze function is really a gift. With that functionality, you don’t have to save important emails for later in your Inbox or save them in a folder called ‘For Later’ or something like that, as you can simply schedule them for a later moment. When you need those emails, they will automatically reappear in your inbox. So you don’t have to spend a lot of time remembering important e-mails, since they reappear automatically.

Snooze email with Gmail

But how exactly do you do that? Let’s first look at the option for the web version of Google’s email service. Open your mail (and log in if necessary) and move your mouse pointer to the mail that snoozes your mail. When you do this, several options will appear on the right of the screen. The rightmost option is a clock and you must have it. Click on the clock.

You can also select a message or multiple messages on the left (by placing a check mark in the square) and tap the clock icon at the top. Already in an email? No problem: at the very top of that message is also that clock, so you can click on that too, if that is easy for you.

When you click on the clock, whichever you chose, a menu will appear. You will see a number of suggestions with times and dates that you can choose from. Is there a good option there? Fine: click on it and the mail is snoozed. Otherwise you can choose the option at the bottom called Choose date and time. Within the pop-up screen on the screen, indicate the time and date and press Save. Also now the mail has been postponed for later.

If you want to see an overview of deferred emails within Gmail, you will find it in the menu on the left. Within that menu is an option called Snoozed. All deferred emails are there.

Snooze within the Gmail application

You can also snooze within the Gmail app, but it works slightly differently there. After opening the app and an email, press the three dots in the top right for the menu. There you will find the option Snooze. You can also select an e-mail (or several e-mails) in the overview and then tap on the three dots at the top right. Even then you will come across the Snooze option.

Tap Snooze and choose a time and date here. This works in the same way as on the web. Is your preference not listed? No problem, there is again the option to manually select the date and time. Choose the date, choose the time and press OK. Then press Save.

If you want to view the overview of your snoozed emails within the app, you can also do so here in the menu on the right. To do this, press the three lines on the left, at the top, and then go to the Snoozed folder.
