In iOS 18.4, Safari shows the history of your searches as standard when you open a new tab. That’s how you turn it off.
This way you prevent Safari from revealing your history in iOS 18.4
When you type a new search in the Safari app of iOS 18.4, you will see all the keywords you have searched for before. That is not so bad when you are the only one using your iPhone, but if you sometimes lend it, it can sometimes cause strange looks.

To immediately erase this search history, you can tap the ‘Wear everything’ link on the same tab. Then the current search history is thrown away. But when you search again, the list is slowly but surely filled again.
Fortunately, there is also a way to permanently remove the search history whenever you want. You do that in the way below:
Disable search history in Safari on the iPhone
- Open the ‘Settings’ app;
- Scroll down and tap ‘Apps’;
- Search the list for ‘Safari’ and I on it;
- Turn off the slider with ‘Show recent searches’.
Safari will no longer show history in iOS 18.4. In the same way you can also turn on the function if you secretly found it useful.
