iPhone 13 series may be phased out
On September 12, Apple will most likely unveil the new iPhone 15 series. An exciting moment, on the one hand because we then know which rumors have all become reality, and which have not. But on the other hand, such a new iPhone series also means that a lot is happening within Apple’s range.
Due to the new iPhones that are added, other iPhones are falling off. This happened last year with the iPhone 12 mini. Usually, Apple is pretty consistent in how the company determines which devices remain on sale and which don’t. For example, after the launch of the iPhone 13 series, you could still buy the iPhone 12 and 12 mini, but the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max were dropped. When the iPhone 14 appeared, the 12 mini disappeared, and the 13 and 13 mini remained available. And iPhone 14 mini is not there.
If you continue this line, it is therefore quite possible that we will soon only keep the iPhone 13, 14 and 14 Plus, in addition to the iPhone 15 series. The iPhone 13 mini in a nutshell
The iPhone 13 mini was released in 2021 and was the direct successor to the 12 mini. For the first time in years, Apple had released a completely new, smaller iPhone, because there seemed to be a lot of demand for it.
The iPhone 13 mini was an absolute high-end smartphone when it appeared. The A15 chip inside is still used in the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. The two rear cameras take snaps that some more expensive Android phones are the envy of. And thanks to the handy size with a 5.4-inch OLED screen, the 13 mini also fits perfectly in smaller pockets. And the battery has been thoroughly overhauled, so that the moderate battery life of the predecessor has also been remedied. Last but not least: The screen is almost borderless and thanks to Face ID you can unlock the phone just by looking at it.
Despite the fact that it is and was a top device, the question – at least by Apple standards – turned out to be disappointing. People preferred the “standard size” of 6.1-inches anyway.
Alternatives to the iPhone 13 mini?
If the iPhone 13 mini really disappears, there will be no good alternative in the Apple field. Only the iPhone SE 2022 still has a similar size, but is a bit larger and has a much smaller screen. Moreover, you don’t have a borderless OLED screen and no Face ID.
The next modern iPhone in terms of size is already the iPhone 14. In terms of battery life and screen size, this is of course great, but it is therefore significantly heavier and larger. If we look at Apple’s competitors, then only the Asus Zenfone 10 positive eye. If we can believe our friends from Android Planet, then it is a very nice phone with a 5.9-inch screen and quite comparable dimensions. You only have an Android. And we really can’t recommend that to you.
