The default browser in Windows 11 is Microsoft’s own Edge. It now has the same basis as Google Chrome and therefore offers a lot of ease of use.

If you open a website with Windows 11, this is done by default with Microsoft’s Edge browser. The current Microsoft Edge version is quite different from the original version. It is based on the same technology as Google’s popular Chrome browser. As a result, it continues to perform well and most websites are also immediately checked to work well with Edge.
Edge has plenty of useful features for pleasant browsing, such as its own collections of pages and more, and the ability to add your own notes to websites. The browser is also well integrated in Windows 11. You can get started right away without having to download and install additional software. And if you want more, there are tons of (free) extensions available for the new Edge.
Getting Started with Edge
You start Edge in the same way as other programs. You click on the blue icon on the Taskbar. You can still somewhat recognize the letter e from Microsoft’s old browser Internet Explorer. You can enter the address of a website you want to visit or enter a keyword in the address bar. By default, the search engine Bing will search for you, but you can change that.
Collections
Edge offers the ability to create collections of pages, images, and more. Press the button Collections and type a name (for example, Spotify) next to the triangle. Below that you can immediately Current page to add. Expanding a collection is also easy: right-click on the selected text or images and choose Add to collections. Or click the button Collections and add comments or edit items via the shortcut menu. Do you want to customize your collection? Press the button Collections and then the triangle next to a collection name for the list of all collections. Open the menu To sort (three dots) for customization and more information.
Tip 1 Customize tabs
At Edge you also work with tabs on which the various websites are opened. Click the plus sign at the top right for a new tab or hover over a tab for a description. To control the appearance of new tabs, click the gear in the top right corner of the page. Choose one of the standard formats or create via the option Amended your own layout.
Tip 2 Text only
In Edge there is a button that only shows the text on a website. You will not be hindered by images or automatically starting videos when reading. Click the book icon at the top.
Incidentally, some websites still show an image, for example nu.nl
Tip 3 Read PDF files
You can also open PDF files in Edge. This allows you to read manuals or books from the browser and even have them read aloud. You can search for words in the PDF using the search button.
Tip 4 Favorites
The star icon will still make you mark the displayed website as Favorite. Click the icon and click Ready to add a favorite to the Favorites toolbar.
Tip 5 History
To revisit a previously visited website, click More and choose History. You can quickly find recent items on that list via the Recently closed tab.
Tip 6 Downloads
click on More and choose Downloads to see them. You can pause, resume and open them, among other things. If there are any active or new downloads, you can also use the button on the toolbar.
Tip 7 Quick menu and sharing
Right-click anywhere on a web page for Edge’s shortcut menu. Depending on what you click on, you can, for example, save an image there or copy a link. Similarly, you can share an image or link via Facebook, Twitter and so on. Through Windows share options you can share with, for example, a connected smartphone.
Tip 8 Different search engine
By default, Edge searches with Bing. To change that, open the menu More and click Settings. Scroll down and click below Services on Address bar and search. If you want to select a search engine, open the drop-down list Search engine used in the address bar and choose the desired search engine. If it is not there, surf to it first and open the list again.
Tip 9 Add buttons
Are you missing buttons on the toolbar? In Settings, go to Appearance and scroll down to activate or hide buttons. At the Home button you can enter the desired link.
Tip 10 Settings and More
Click on the three dots to, for example, open a new (private) window, zoom in or out, search the page, or print the page. You can also open the settings via that menu.
